Our Chef: Auntie Diana
How it all beganSince childhood, Auntie Diana has always loved to cook for friends and family. Though she learned how to make some of her favorite traditional Ghanaian meals like jollof and waakye from her mother, her knowledge of Ghanaian recipes didn’t stop there! As she grew older, she took it upon herself to expand her knowledge of West African cuisine by experimenting with different flavors on her own and gathering new recipes from friends and extended family members.
Then in 2001, Auntie Diana came with her family to the US. Here, she was exposed to a variety of different kinds of foods and cooking techniques, but she never forgot her roots. Longing to return to her love for cooking for others, she began cooking her famous Hausa Koko for members of her church in 2010, and soon after she began catering small events for close friends. Today, her culinary reach goes far beyond her church and close friends. All across the DMV area, Auntie Diana caters for large events like weddings and baby showers, and with the opening of Lapaz, she is happy to extend her services to customers like you! |
